Doctor
Dr. Robert Z Cameron , Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Dr. Bob Cameron came to Riverside in 1987 from Pasquotank Animal Hospital in Elizabeth City, NC, where he had practiced for 6 1/2 years. He joined Dr. Ben Turner as a partner at Riverside in 1988, replacing Dr. Lemuel Staton. Dr. Bob got his Bachelor of Science degree from Allegheny College in Meadville, PA, in 1973. He then got a Masters of Science in Medical Microbiology (1978) and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (1980) from the University of Georgia in Athens, GA. GO DAWGS!
Dr. Bob grew up in New Jersey, western New York, and Delaware before heading to Pennsylvania and Georgia for school. He finally made it to North Carolina to stay.
Dr. Cameron is very active at First United Methodist Church, Boy Scout Troop 5, and the Rocky Mount Luncheon Lions Club.
Bob is married to Pam and has two wonderful children, David and Mary Beth. He also has five furry freinds: Gracie, their Golden Retreiver, and four cats, Cowee, Tiger, Motzart, and Muzette.
Kara J Bissett-Wheeler , Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Dr. Bissett-Wheeler joined the Riverside staff in 2000 upon completing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at North Carolina State University, College of Veterinary Medicine. She attended NCSU for her undergraduate pre-vet training.
Dr. BW grew up in Wilson and still lives there with her husband, Bryant, and two adorable children, Gavin and Karys. She has 2 dogs: Kilo (German Shepherd) and Kade (Boxer). She also has four cats- Jack, Bailey, Red and the latest edition, Pete.
Dr. Chandra V Meachem-Tucker , Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Dr. Chandra Meachem-Tucker came to Riverside in January 2005. Dr. Meachem-Tucker graduated from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech in 2004. She practiced at Community Animal Hospital in Wendell before joining the Riverside Veterinary Hospital Staff. Dr. Meachem-Tucker is from Durham and did her undergraduate work at North Carolina A & T State University. Chandra is married to Damion Tucker, a Rocky Mount attorney.
Dr. Jordan Joyce Harris , Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Dr. Jordan Joyce Harris received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in May 2005. Dr. Harris also received her Bachelor of Science from NC State University. Jordan is a native of Banner Elk, located in the mountains of North Carolina. She is married to Michael Harris, a Tarboro native. They have recently had a wonderful new addition to their family. In March of 2009, their daughter Maren was born. Their "furry, four-legged children" include their labradors Dixie and Avery, and 4 cats, Scully, Harris, Precious, and Jack. |

Allison P Hassinger , DVM | Dr. Allison Price Hassinger joined the Riverside Veterinary Hospital team in June 2009 after graduating from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from NC State University in 2005. Dr. Hassinger is a Raleigh native and still lives there with her husband Stanley, a medical student at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Dr. Hassinger and Stanley share their home with two active pit bull mixes - Doc and Abby, and a more reserved cat - Ruthie. |

Dr. Sara L Cumbus , DVM Dr. Sara Cumbus is a South Carolina native. She moved to Greensboro, NC as a child and resided there until college. Dr. Cumbus attended Meredith College in Raleigh, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of South Carolina in 1989. She attended NC State University for her veterinary doctorate which was earned in 1993.
Dr. Cumbus has held a license for nuclear medicine, has been in private practice for general medicine as well as emergency medicine, and was previously employed by the NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine with teh emergency service.
Dr. Cumbus resides in Raleigh, with her husband Michael Floyd, her son Alex, 2 dogs, and 4 cats. As a family their interest is in ice hockey and her son plays at a competitive level. They attend the Church of the Nativity in Raleigh.
Technician
Martha B Perry Martha has been with Riverside since 1989! She graduated from NC State University with a B.S. degree in Animal Science. Her husband, Donald, also graduated from NCSU. She loves horses and has four of her own ( two Morgans, one Saddlebred, one American Paint Horse). She trains, shows, and gives lessons. She has seven cats which keep her company at home and at the barn. They are B.B., B.G., Fuzz, Fat Furry, Smoothie, Fullerton, and Splash. She also has one rescue dog named Patty Cake who she adopted from Riverside.
Kaye Edmondson Kaye has been employed with Riverside since 1988! She started her employment at Riverside's satelite office on North Church Street and worked there with many doctors until September of 1999 when Hurricane Floyd flooded the facility. She was then transfered to the main office. She is married to Perry who works at Nash General Hospital, and has two children: Felecia and Thomas.
Candice Ambrose , Registered Veterinary Technician Candice has been working in the veterinary field for 16 years! She went to technician school at Central Carolina Community College in Sanford, NC, and has been a technician since 1997. Candice has been part of the Riverside family for 9 years. She has two dogs, Trista (11 years) and Storm (13 years) and one cat named Tad who is 10 years old. Candice loves dentistry and surgical anesthesia. Her boyfriend, Reggie, is currently in the Middle East, but is due to return any day now!
Dana Rowell Dana has been working at Riverside for four years. She has been a veterinary technician since 1998. She has one son, Dillon, and a boxer named Dax.
Billie Jo Hopkins B.J. joined the Riverside staff in 2008. She has been working in the veterinary field for 14 years. She grew up in Wilson, NC and currently lives in Bailey. B.J. is married to Anthony Hopkins of Spring Hope. They have eight wonderful dogs that they have rescued: Ben (Pembrook Corgi), Ralph (Terrier mix), Saydee (Basset Hound), Tonie (Rat Terrier), Grannee (Lab/Bloodhound mix), LE (mix), Jasper (Terrier mix), and Monrow (Basset Hound).
Liz Guerry
Jennifer Ihrie Jennifer joined the Riverside team in August of 2009. She lives in Franklin County and is married to her high school sweetheart, David, who is assistant director at Pilot Baptist Daycare. They live on a farm with two American Bulldogs (Dallas and Laci), a mixed breed dog named Earl, Damien the cat, and two goats, one donkey, a potbellied pig, and lots of cows.

Doreen Carpenter Doe has worked in the veterinary field since 1967! She has traveled the world and is originally from England where she began working in a boarding kennel. She lived in Belgium for four years and came to the U.S. in 1976. Since then she has lived in OK, TX, MO, PA, NE, OH, SC, and now NC! She has been married to her husband, Jim, for 33 years and has two Jack Russel Terriers and two cats.

Grooming
Sue J Armstrong Sue started working at Riverside in June of 1977, making her one of the longest working employees at Riverside. She and her husband Steve reside on their family farm where they have goats, chickens, turkeys, horses, dogs, and cats. She loves the outdoors where she camps, fishes, and kayaks. She is an active member of Salem Baptist Church and Cowboys for Christ.
Tracie Baker Tracie has been working at Riverside since 2000. She started working in the boarding kennel and has transitioned into the grooming department. She is engaged to Chris. They have a beautiful daughter together named Bailee. They have four dogs, one cat, and one horse. She is currently attending Nash Community College.
